The West African Examination Council (WAEC) SSCE (WASSCE) is a standardized exam administered by WAEC to students at the end of their secondary school education and also to private candidates in Nigeria.

The National Examination Council (NECO) administers the Senior School Certificate Exam as well as WAEC. As with WAEC, NECO conducts SSCE Exams for both school based candidates as well as private candidates. In Nigeria either of the two certifications are required along with UTME (Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination) to gain admission into the University.

The Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) is Nigeria's official entrance examination into tertiary-level institutions administered by the
Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB). The examinations is conducted every year and the certification is valued for two years.
